For years and years the lions have been perfecting a special talent. They’ve over paid players and gone through many coaches to master this talent. The pursuit of this mastery has undoubtedly cost them countless games and even more fans. But ownership always knew it would eventually make a difference.
The skill they’ve mastered you ask? The skill of giving up touchdowns of course! The latest victim of this perfected skill by the lion defense: Todd Gurley and his Falcons. The Falcons thought they had the game in hand, secure in their ability to hold onto a fourth quarter lead. Little did they know the lions franchise was born for this moment. Gurley rushed through the line with power and speed (you don’t need either to score on the Lions) and once he realized where he was it was too late. Falling to the side could not save him. He and fantasy owners would have to live with the fact that he was in the end zone. This of course gave the game to the lions as they executed a clean touchdown drive in 1:04 to win the game. It was almost too easy so they made the game winning extra point 48 yards. When a franchise has committed all of its resources and history into mastering something the way the lions have, it's tough not to fall victim. Rest assured that while Todd Gurley was the latest victim he will surely not be the last. Side note PFJ is investigating claims that Todd Gurley owns himself on his fantasy team. One PFJ reporter overheard him say “My fantasy team still has a chance, the Falcons don’t.”
